During the 13th century, Zakhar Berkut and his wife Rada, live with a group of villagers up in the Carpathian mountains. Unfortunately, their peaceful existence is soon threatened by Burunda Khan, a powerful Mongolian General who leads his army west in search of new lands to conquer. Zakhar's two heroic sons, Maksim and Ivan, are forced to defend their people and fight for their survival.
